A classically trained concert violinist, Sue Artz has been on stage since age 6, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Performance from The College of New Paltz, NY.
Sue has performed at venues as varied and renowned as both Carnegie Hall and CBGB’s, with more than three decades of experience in the music industry. Soon after launching her own business on the Outer Banks in 2001, Sue was elected as the 2004-2005 Vice President of the Outer Banks Wedding Association.
Locally, Sue starred in the Outer Banks Music Showcase, founded the former Heart Strings and Ivory trio, was an original member of the Showstoppers band, and has performed at various festivals and benefits, including the annual Violins & Voices Christmas Concert.
In 2001, Sue made headlines when she won more than $40,000 in front of millions of viewers on the long-running game show Wheel of Fortune.
Sue enjoys performing string-themed favorites from a wide range of genres for all generations, including classical standards as well as contemporary hits by artists including The Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne, Lady Gaga, Jason Mraz, Charlie Daniels, and more. (You can hear music clips below.)
In 2012, Sue and Matt Artz launched OBX Entertainment (obxentertainment.com), the definitive online source for local and regional entertainment news, and in 2014, Sue and Matt debuted the first season of their YouTube show OBXE TV, the first ever original online series on the Outer Banks.
Sue and Matt also launched the niche lifestyle website Halloween Daily News in 2012, and founded the annual Outer Banks Halloween Parade in 2014 and the Halloween International Film Festival in 2016.
Sue currently resides in Kill Devil Hills with her husband, photographer Matt Artz, and their sons, Ozzie and Jasper.
